Founded as Shanmugha College of Engineering in 1984, and later renamed as Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA) on 6th April 2001. This institution was conferred the status of Deemed University on 26th April 2001. The University offers various UG, PG & Ph.D. programmes in Engineering, Sciences, Law & Mgmt. SASTRA imparts value based higher education turning out good engineers, scientists and researchers who are at the same time good individuals and good citizens in order that they may become useful members of an enlightened humane society.

SCHOOL OF LAW

SASTRA University has set itself high standards for legal education and with a view to build a World Class Law School, SASTRA has established SOL in the year 2008 and has undertaken to earnestly endeavour and leave no stones unturned by offering quality education to the students. With three 5 year Integrated Programmes (B.A.,LL.B.(Hons.); B.B.A.,LL.B.(Hons.) and B.Com., LL.B.(Hons.)) SASTRA provides the law students diverse knowledge in the field of Social Studies, Business and Economics. It is beyond doubt that the legal education at SASTRA will prepare legal professional who will play a decisive and critical leadership role in meeting various challenges in globalised knowledge economy. The students pursuing legal education have left their permanent footprints in various Moot Court Competitions conducted by premier Law Schools. SOL is ranked in Mooting Premier League.
